Founded in 2007, Government Strategies Group brings years of experience in government affairs on the local, state and federal levels. We represent private and public sector clients with decision makers at all levels of government, capitalizing on our experience and relationships.
At Government Strategies Group, we believe that corporations, associations, professional service firms and communities need more than access and influence. Access and influence are fungible and can be denied or diminished. Truly understanding the needs of our clients and years of experience allow us to best position their interests in a way that will not only benefit them, but also the governmental entity with whom we are involved.
Areas of expertise include economic development, transportation, housing, real estate, zoning, land use, environmental, permitting, taxation and electric deregulation. We focus on the following:

There are many closed doors in government. Knowing where they are, how to open them and how to get a fair hearing is invaluable. While statutes are black and white, governments are often run in shades of gray, which allow for changing interpretations or direction. Knowledge of how governments work, experience in dealing with governmental entities and an understanding of administration priorities are necessary to adequately serve a clients needs.

We have an in depth understanding of economic and community development. We assist our clients identify, negotiate and secure economic development incentives provided by most local and state governments. Most governments offer incentives to companies considering investment and the creation of jobs and many companies fail to benefit because they lack the knowledge or ability to secure the incentives available. GSG not only represents private sector clients in pursuit of incentives, but also advises governments on the use of economic development incentives.

Public policy initiatives are becoming more and more popular. Whether it is promoting or opposing an issue, it is important to understand the process - from grassroots activities like direct mail, phone banks, or door-to-door campaigning to online strategies - and have the expertise to develop a comprehensive strategy to be effective. We can work with an established committee to provide strategic advice or put together a team to develop and implement the plan.

Formation of alliances with key stakeholders, influencers and opinion leaders is often critical to promoting our clients positions. Pursuing a solution alone rarely makes sense. Identification of potential allies and alignment of resources can shift the balance of power in our clients' favor.
